Darkside lined up against an unknown quantity in New Malden All Stars, desperate to get back to winning ways after a poor performance in the cup.

Darkside in their changed blue strip, started brightly and had the better of the first half. Captain Craig came close on a number of occasions early on but failed to test the keeper. Little Ben had a deflected shot, that looked to be going into the top corner, tipped over the bar and Adrian came close from a corner. As Darkside committed more men forward to find the opening goal, New Malden tried to hit Darkside on the counter, and would have succeed had it not been for some good goalkeeping by the stand-in Big Ben.

The two sides went in at half-time neck and neck, but Darkside felt they had the slight upper hand.

The second half started off similarly to the first with Darkside creating the early chances. The break through finally came through about 10 minutes in. Adrian rose highest from an Alan corner and placed the header firmly past the keeper. It turned out to be the all important goal. New Malden didn't look like getting back into the game after that and not soon after it was Darkside extended their lead. A nice team move resulted in Little Ben being released down the right and his cross was met by Dan who stuck out a leg to score.

The match was finished as a contest at that point, but Darkside continued to threaten. Little Ben and Craig missed good chances and Tim and Dan both struck the woodwork before man of the match Errol struck twice. The first came after another fine move through the Darkside midfield and Errol tucked away nicely from a Tim pass. The second came after Little Ben won the ball in the area and layed it off to Errol who tucked away nicely.

A good win for Darkside then, their second straight home win. The side is getting back to its strongest and looking forward to the trip to Green King.
