02 February 2008 - League Today is the Monday after the Surrey Fire game, so my chances of being as funny and as accurate as the Surrey Fire reports are very slim, but here goes!! Boss Tanna was away with the fairies, and with numbers short he could only find Ian “Juande” Harris to look after the team affairs, brining his Mediterranean look to the sidelines. It was again, a cold summers afternoon, in Jan and the skies were clear, the birds were singing “We love you Darksiode we do…….”, and “……..by far the greatest team” Branners late withdrawl to the bench, due to “blisters” meant a small shuffle of the pack. Mayes was in goal, although was suffering in more ways than one, cramp in the wrist and a split toenail, but he made the starting XI Rob was employed at CB, Craig and Saul joined by a deep lying Kia supporting Barndoor Dixon in attacked, Dave as an emergency RB and Ant at left back The game kicked off and soon became a scrappy affair, chances were few and far between. The ref stopped and started the game on a regular basis, meaning there wasn’t much flow to the game. Shortly after, as Darkside looked to reorganise and a ball through the middle sat perfectly for LM and they finished a very well worked goal, within a minute and the lead was doubled. From a corner this time, headed down and a free man was left to prod in and seal a 2-0 lead at half time With Ian on hospital duty, Tim gave a half time talk, the general consensus of a rallying call looking to raise spirits of a game Darkside were not out of, and hadn’t been outplayed. Kia pushed on to play 4-4-2 Little came from the half, Darkside had failed to make too many chances, some switching of players, Ben and Cullum switched sides, Kia came out to play wide right top try and influence the game Darkside made their first change, Tim replaced Kia and went up top with Paul, Berti then replaced Saul and as Darkside went looking for a goal, Tim threaded through for the onrushing Cullum to prod home Even the addition of Ady to the front line, failed, only just, to provide an equaliser and a defeat was recorded, but not disgraced.Match report by: Tim G |
